Who We Are

At Mountain Springs we believe in the inspiration and authority of the Word of God. The Bible is the source of doctrine which governs our church and lives. The Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Matthew 28:19 CSB

The Trinity

There is one God who co-exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Trinity is equal in authority and nature and fulfills three distinct roles. (John 14:7–16; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:1-2)

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ: To those chosen, living as exiles dispersed abroad in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient and to be sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ. May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

1 Peter 1:1-2 CSB

Jesus Christ, God's Son

Jesus Christ is God’s Son. He was born of a virgin as both God and man, lived a sinless life, died to atone for the sins of human beings, was buried, arose from the grave, ascended into heaven, and will literally return to earth. (Matthew 1:22–23; Isaiah 9:6; 53:5–6; Romans 1:3–4; Acts 1:9–11; Titus 2:11-13)

...concerning his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh and was appointed to be the powerful Son of God according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection of the dead.

Romans 1:3-4 CSB

The Bible

The Bible is God’s Holy Word, without error, and is the sole authority for life. (Psalm 119:105; Romans 15:4; 2 Peter 1:20–21; 2 Timothy 3:16)

Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.

Psalm 119:105 CSB

Salvation

Salvation is a free gift from God, to all humanity. Salvation is needed because of the sin that exists in each of our lives.  The sacrificial death of Christ on the cross, made possible the ability for each person who calls on Jesus to be saved from their sins and to enter into a relationship with God.  We believe that salvation also gives us eternal security and nothing can ever cause someone to lose their salvation. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8–9; John 1:12; John 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)

He saved us — not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy — through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Titus 3:5 CSB

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:1 CSB

Baptism

Baptism is by immersion after salvation and is done in obedience to Jesus Christ’s command. (Matthew 3:15–17; Acts 2:38)

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38 CSB

The Church

The Church is a local body of baptized believers with Jesus as the Head. (1 Corinthians 12:27–29; Colossians 1:17–20)

Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, leading, various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles?

1 Corinthians 12:27–29 CSB
